We’re raising our very first grass-finished beef on the Gardnerville property! We’ve had grass-finished beef in years past and this year, due to the demand for grass-fed beef, we decided to expand this product. We have cut the hay from the two hayfields and are now able to feed the hay back to the calves. We’ll do that through the wintertime, so these beef will be eating from the very same pastures of this property throughout their growing period.
Grass-finished means the animal is raised on grasses and hays and/or pastures their whole lives. Grain-finished is they can be on pasture, but they also receive grains. Everything is we raised is raised on pasture, and we supplement with hay as well as some grains to keep full nutrition during their growing period. Grass-finished beef basically raised their whole lives without any grains at all.
